Johan Cruijff ArenA

Start of the renovation of our towers

The Johan Cruijff ArenA has begun a major refresh of the four towers next to the long stairwells. These iconic structures, recognisable by the dishes on top, will receive a complete repainting in the coming months. This ensures the stadium remains in top condition and continues to reflect the experience we want to offer our visitors.

Why?

The towers were last fully repainted in 2008, so they were due for a fresh new layer. With this update, the stadium stays in peak shape and maintains the look and feel you expect from the ArenA. This maintenance is part of our ongoing plan to keep the stadium ready for the future.

Planning

Work will begin on Monday 16 March and is expected to continue until Thursday 1 October. Even during the busy summer events season, work will continue daily wherever possible. During this period, you may regularly see crew members working on the exterior of the stadium.

Rope access

For the painting work, we use rope access: a technique where specialists work while suspended from ropes along the towers. This allows them to safely and efficiently reach areas that would otherwise be nearly impossible to access. They clean, sand and carefully apply a new coat of paint, ensuring the towers will soon look fresh and sharp again.

Safety first

Throughout the entire project, safety is our top priority. All activities are planned and checked in detail. Temporary barriers will be placed around various areas of the stadium, ensuring visitors and staff can pass safely while work is underway.

This is how we make sure the Johan Cruijff ArenA continues to shine for years to come.
