The Amsterdam University Applied Science, researchgroup Lectoraat Crossmedia is linked to the Fieldlab Spectacular ArenA eXperiences (SAX). The research group is part of the program committee and conducts research into Fan Experience. In addition, lectoraat Crossmedia ensures the connection with the wider research and education of the FDMCI faculty of the Amsterdam University of applied science. The research focuses on the effects of innovative new (media) techniques, services and content on Fan Experience.
BeSite Group is an organization that has been involved in Smart Mobility solutions in the field of travel planners, parking and navigation for over 20 years. In 2016 we developed the Mobility Portal together with the Johan Cruijff ArenA and since then we have been an active member of the Johan Cruijff ArenA Innovation ecosystem. We work together with other partners to optimize the customer journey of the visitor, such as Waze, TomTom and Google Maps.
The Johan Cruijff ArenA not only functioned as football stadium during the EK 2020. As part of the cooperation agreement between the City of Amsterdam and the Johan Cruijff ArenA Innovation Amsterdam, four breakthrough sessions took place during the tournament. The purpose of these sessions was to strengthen high-level collaboration with companies, knowledge institutions, residents of Amsterdam and the municipality and to realize breakthroughs for major transitions together. Each session covered one specific transition theme:

During last Saturday's Netherlands-Latvia game, the ArenA was a huge Living Lab. As an innovative stadium, we're really proud of that! Many innovations were tested as part of the Fieldlab research programme. These can contribute to allowing spectators and audiences into stadiums and other events safely and responsibly. The ArenA has been a Living Lab for innovations for several years. During the past year, it has played an active role as a test location for innovative solutions that can help accelerate the reopening of event locations.
