The Johan Cruijff ArenA is more than a stadium; it's a symbol in Amsterdam. More than 2 million people visit the ArenA annually. This makes us an important attraction and employer. We take this social responsibility seriously. That's why we're there for our visitors, as a great employer and for Amsterdam's Zuidoost district. Even when different interests are involved.

Connected to Amsterdam Zuidoost

Our aim is that our neighbours see the ArenA as their own neighbourhood hub. A place where talent is nurtured and where we work together to build a strong, vibrant community with a spotlight on social growth and economic opportunities.

What this looks like:

  • Serious about employment: by 2030 10% of ArenA staff will be from the local area.
  • Young talent in the lead: every year 300 students from Amsterdam Zuidoost will discover their talent in the ArenA.
  • Opening our doors for our neighbours: our dream is that every resident of Zuidoost has been in the ArenA at least once. That’s why we welcome 5,000 local residents to different events every year. Come by and feel at home.

In the spotlight

We're already making strides in providing employment and connecting with our neighbourhood. Teamwork and innovation are at the heart of everything we do.

Tackling the challenges

Our social ambitions are bold, but we know that good intentions alone aren't enough. That's why we tackle challenges strategically and stay critical about what works and what doesn't.
