A lasting connection: partnership with the Johan Cruyff Foundation renewed

‘Johan Cruyff’s philosophy is deeply embedded in everything we do. The Cruyff Legacy 14K shows how, together, you can get people moving for children for whom this is not a given. Through this partnership, we are investing in sport and talent development, with extra attention for Amsterdam Zuidoost,’ says Tanja Dik, CEO of the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Continuing Johan’s legacy together
The collaboration between the Johan Cruijff ArenA and the Johan Cruyff Foundation has felt natural for many years. We both proudly carry Johan’s name and are connected by his vision: taking shared responsibility for the next generation. A key annual highlight of the partnership is the Cruyff Legacy 14K. This sponsored run starts and finishes at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, which will remain its proud home for future editions. Each year, a team from the ArenA also takes part.
Beyond the Cruyff Legacy 14K, the Johan Cruijff ArenA continues to be a central place where Johan’s story and legacy come together — including as the venue for the premiere of the Cruyff documentary and as a stage for sport and social impact.
'For us, this partnership is about more than sport alone. It’s about creating opportunities. Together, we ensure that children and young people are given the space to be active, to develop, and to take part — especially in places where this is most needed, from Amsterdam Zuidoost to far beyond. With the Johan Cruijff ArenA, we truly feel like family; we share the same sense of responsibility and the same drive to make an impact. This is how we continue to build Johan Cruyff’s legacy together,’ says Niels Meijer, CEO of the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
