At least 12,000 fans in the stadium in Amsterdam for EURO 2020

At least 12,000 spectators will be able to attend EURO 2020 matches at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam. Depending on developments surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic in June, there is a chance that more fans will be allowed inside the stadium. This ambition has been expressed jointly by the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB), the Dutch cabinet and the Amsterdam city council.

Afgelopen zaterdag was de ArenA tijdens Nederland-Letland één groot Living Lab, en daar zijn we als innovatief stadion enorm trots op! Als onderdeel van het Fieldlab-onderzoek werden een groot aantal innovaties getest die kunnen bijdragen aan het op een veilige en verantwoorde wijze toelaten van publiek in stadions en bij overige evenementen. De ArenA is al een aantal jaren een Living Lab voor innovaties en heeft zich het afgelopen jaar actief ingezet als testlocatie voor innovatieve, oplossingen die de versnelde heropening van eventlocaties mede mogelijk kunnen maken.

Digital COVID-19 control room for sports locations tested in ArenA

A digital control room packed with sensor-based data, which sports locations can use to monitor health within their buildings. This smart monitoring system by Calculus will be tested for the first time in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Last Saturday it was already part of a new study by Fieldlab Events during the international match between the Netherlands and Latvia. Calculus has been instructed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) to investigate how the system could assist indoor sports locations and help to ensure a safe and healthy return to visiting sport locations such as the ArenA.
