Amsterdam ArenA was very closely involved in the construction and the first stages of the establishment of the Donbass Arena stadium organization. We reviewed the stadium designs and our recommendations, including logistics and stadium precinct involvement, resulted in various design optimizations.
We have established and subsequently trained the appointed stadium director, management board and the rest of the stadium organization. We also provided onsite training courses for the stewarding and security staff. During the test events, the dress rehearsal and the official opening we assisted in event planning and supported management.
We were responsible for the successful switch over from a stadium safety and security operation coordinated by local police to a (more service-oriented) safety and security organization managed by the stadium itself. Since Donetsk is near Russia, Russian governmental organizations and private stadium development companies see the change at Donbas Arena as an example to follow and they often ask us how they could achieve a similar change in the organization of stadium safety and security in their country. This question becomes even more relevant as FIFA does not accept having many police visually present in stadiums at their World Cup tournaments.
