Geodan NEXT becomes Program Partner in the Amsterdam Innovation Arena
Last week in Barcelona, scene of the ‘Smart City Expo World Congress’ (SCEWC), the Amsterdam ArenA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Geodan NEXT. Geodan NEXT will become a Program Partner in the Amsterdam Innovation Arena (AIA).
AIA believes that in the future, Smart Cities will focus on a system(s) approach rather than on the optimization of separate systems. The AIA provides the ultimate living lab where ideas and technologies grow into innovative Smart City and Smart Stadium products and services.
Henk van Raan, chief innovation officer of the Amsterdam ArenA and AIA, is very pleased with the new partnership: “Geodan NEXT is capable to disclose all available Geo Spatial Data and make it visual so we can act on the data real time. Their solution is a great added value to our innovation ambitions – specifically the transition towards becoming a data driven operation. They enable us not only to operate data based, but also to predict future situation on the basis of historic learnings. The Amsterdam Innovation Arena already has experience with the Geodan NEXT solution in our mobility center, and is happy to welcome them as our new program partner partner to support us in achieving our challenging innovation goals.”
Geodan NEXT CEO Gerrit Schipper says: “I am excited that the Amsterdam Innovation Arena and Geodan NEXT will jointly develop solutions within the Smart Arena field of applications. This is yet another example of the AIA being a great testbed for international innovations. Geodan NEXT as program partner is happy to contribute to this endeavor.”
Within the partnership, Geodan will continue with the permanent field lab demo as already installed in AIA during live events in the Amsterdam ArenA. Geodan will also contribute to the development of visualisation of spatial data. Furthermore Geodan’s co-founder professor Henk Scholten will join AIA as strategic advisor.
“The mission of the Amsterdam ArenA is to become the smartest stadium in the world. This development is crucial for their future plans. I am more than happy to accept the position of strategic advisor of AIA on the field of Spatial Data Infrastructure Technologies. I have no doubt that my field of Spatial Information will contribute crucial elements in accomplishing this mission,” says professor Henk Scholten.
