Amsterdam ArenA wins Stadium Business Award

Yesterday evening, the Amsterdam ArenA won the ‘Fan Experience’ award in stadium Bernabeu. This happened at the annual Stadium Business Summit, a conference attended by the largest stadiums in the world.

The Fan Experience Award is presented to the stadium that is best capable of consistently meeting the highest service levels to maximize the fan experience for visitors throughout their visit.

Henk van Raan, responsible for innovation projects in the stadium, attended the ceremony in Madrid. He says he is pleased with the award: ‘The Amsterdam ArenA has been innovating constantly for years to ensure that not only the event itself, but also the experience around it is organized to perfection for every visitor. We aim to provide a custom 'customer journey' – a door-to-door experience – and we are always working on optimizing the individual visit, for instance by providing current traffic updates, live streaming matches in the stadium and excellent connectivity via 4G and WiFi. We are very proud to be allowed to receive this award tonight.’

Van Raan continues: ‘We see this award as encouragement for the entire Amsterdam ArenA Innovation team to keep going on the chosen path to achieve even more special projects. We have won this award exactly one week before we host the Amsterdam Smart City Event 2016: an event where cities from around the world will come together to share their experiences and innovations. At the same time we will be welcoming the exchange partners and host cities of Euro 2020, so we can share our developments in the areas of mobility, safety, durability and stadium experience.’
