Second edition Amazing Monday in the Amsterdam ArenA
On Monday July 6, it was again time for the second Amazing Monday! During the opening ceremony of the Amsterdam ArenA innovation Center (AAIC), the first ‘Amazing Monday’ was launched. This is the networking event where the newest technologies for mass entertainment & user experience meet innovations for Smart & Sustainable Cities. Every first Monday of the month, different partners and stakeholders come together to meet new innovations, share their knowledge and expand their network at the Amsterdam ArenA.
The second Amazing Monday was opened by Henk van Raan, CIO Amsterdam ArenA, with an update of the Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center. The event was full of inspiration where new ideas and innovations were shared in the Experience Room of AAIC.
The highlight of the second Amazing Monday were the winners of the Appsterdam Smartcity Innovation Challenge and SHAKE, the Young Talent Innovation Festival. The participants of the hackathons took the opportunity to pitch their ideas to the public.
The winner of SHAKE, the Young Talent Innovation Festival, came up with a solution for the event industry: Event 112. This is a plugin for existing event applications, which makes sure that the first aid will come to you when you need help during an event. The winner of the Appsterdam Smartcity Challenge developed the ArenA Q App, which can be used to avoid waiting lines at events. The app can stand in the queue for you when you need to go the toilet during an event at the ArenA. The two teams received an innovation voucher to test and demonstrate their innovation for a whole week at the Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center.
Every Amazing Monday is centered around a theme. The theme of the second Amazing Monday was: Dance. On Saturday July 4, ID&T launched the world premiere of Sensation at the Amsterdam ArenA. Innovation is a must for the greatest dance event. For instance, the Crowd Management Trace & Tracking has been tested by the Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center, which visualize the flow of visitors in the ArenA.
Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center
The aim of Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center is to develop into a center where the best companies work together to develop innovative solutions for smart, sustainable cities. In 2014, the Municipality of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam ArenA signed an Innovation Deal. The official opening of the Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center is a concrete result of this deal. Organizations including Huawei, KPN, TNO (the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) and the Municipality of Amsterdam have all promised their support and to set up offices in the new center.
The Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center welcomes and makes space available for other innovative companies and startups as well. The new center offers a haven of cooperation and knowledge exchange. A commitment to this goal is required of all those who wish to set up their business or office here.
